Andrew’s Expertise in Intellectual Property

Andrew has been a registered patent agent since 2016, specializing in patent prosecution and application drafting. With a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and software systems, Andrew excels in building robust patent portfolios that secure and protect client innovations. He has a proven track record of artfully capturing novelty within complex patent landscapes, crafting high-quality patent applications with precision, and navigating the complexities of the patent process to maximize the value and protection of client intellectual property.

Educational Background and Professional Journey

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Texas A&M University. His professional journey includes significant experience in dark matter laboratory research, where he honed his drafting and engineering skills in designing particle detection chambers. Additionally, Andrew’s background in offshore naval equipment engineering took him internationally, with assignments in China, Singapore, Dubai, and Poland.

Passion for Intellectual Property and Patents

During his travels, Andrew became fascinated with the history, development, and limitations of classical physics, which later motivated him to pursue a career in intellectual property, driven by his passion for preserving ideas and the challenges they overcome. In his spare time, Andrew has meticulously studied Galileo’s early manuscripts, Euclidean geometry, and Apollonian conics, even learning Italian and Latin to translate and trace the complex and intertwined etymology of “moment” and “momentum.” He also enjoys practicing amateur astronomy and volunteering in public outreach education with the Omaha Astronomical Society. These pursuits have further refined his skills in technical articulation and attentiveness to detail.

Andrew’s Approach to Patent Applications

Through the lens of these studies, Andrew views patent applications as a practice of legal world-building that breathes life into an idea, which in turn carries particular limitations and strengths within a patent landscape that can be skillfully leveraged for client interests.
